Who will escape League One this season?

League One is a hotly contested division, with plenty of sides capable of clawing their way into the Championship. Here are three sides who will be gunning for promotion.

Sheffield United
Recently demoted from the Championship after an intense relegation battle throughout the course of last season. Sheffield United are looking to bounce back in style in the 2011/12 League One season. The Blades have recently acquired the managerial skills of Danny Wilson, the former player and manager of bitter rivals Sheffield Wednesday. Much controversy surrounded the decision to hire the manager, but after 3 consecutive wins in League One The Blade’s fans shouldn’t be complaining. Sheffield United’s chances of gaining an automatic promotion spot seem good with an impressive team and loyal fans to boot. The UK football bettingsuggests the Blades could walk away with the League One title this season.

Sheffield Wednesday
Sheffield Wednesday have struggled in recent times. They were originally relegated to League One in the 2009/10 season; narrowly missing out on a place to remain in the Championship by 3 points. The Owls finished their 2010/11 League One campaign in 15th, enduring an abysmal season under the managerial hands of Alan Irvine. Irvine was sacked midway through the season, and ex Bolton manager Gary Megson was duly appointed at the Hillsborough Stadium. Sheffield Wednesday are sure to be contenders in the race to become a Championship team come the 2012/13 Championship season and the League One betting reflects this.

Charlton
Charlton Athletic were relegated to League One after an awful 2008/09 season in the Championship. They finished at the very bottom of the table and have struggled in League One ever since.
Although I do feel that this year could be Charlton’s eponymous year with 3 consecutive wins already under their belt. The Addick’s manager – Chris Powell – seems to be doing a good job so far early in his managerial career, and I’m sure he hopes to continue the good form to gain promotion in the current League One season.

League Two promotion contenders

League Two is an intriguing prospect this year, with some new boys looking to shake things up. Here are the teams who can be expected to be heading for promotion come the end of the season.

Crawley Town

Crawley Town – often referred to as the Manchester City of the non-league – will be trying to make their way to League One for the 2012/13 season. Steve Evans – the Crawley manager – has been given funds to assemble a squad capable of achieving promotion to the higher tier. Star player Sergio Torres will be vital in any success Crawley have. Torres signed for a club record fee of £100,000. My thought is that The Reds will gain automatic promotion by finishing top of the league and the football betting UK reflects this.

Gillingham

It wasn’t so long ago that Gillingham were competing in the Championship. It was back in the 2004/05 season, which saw The Gills relegated to League One on goal difference. It seemed as if there was no light at the end of the tunnel as the London side were again relegated to League Two in the 2007/08 season. But with 3 wins and 1 draw so far in the current campaign, Gillingham look well on course on becoming a League One side next season. Andrew Frampton – The Gills’ captain – will be crucial in any success they may have. Anyone following the League Two betting should bear this in mind.

AFC Wimbledon

Even the name Wimbledon brings back brilliant memories of the days when the Crazy Gang graced the Premier League. The crazy gang consisted of Vinnie Jones, Dennis Wise, John Fashanu, and Lawrie Sanchez. It was a fantastic time for Wimbledon fans. As for AFC Wimbledon’s chances in the current League Two campaign, I can see them gaining promotion due to their fantastic support alone. Luke Moore – one of AFC Wimbledon’s strikers – will be another factor in any accomplishments they have due to his terrific ability to score goals.

Betting on Sports Online

Getting into sports betting can be a bit of a confusing and difficult process. Many of us have gambled against friends and families, but this is generally in a somewhat playful setting: something like “five bucks says the Yankees don’t give up a hit this inning,” or other small bets along these lines. A lot of people also get access to a certain form of sports betting through things like fantasy football leagues, where you and your opponents may put down a certain amount to enter the league, with the pot going to the winner. These are all fun ways to add even more enjoyment to sports. However, in the eyes of people who regularly place real bets on athletics competitions, these types of gambles can be considered small and unofficial.

Fortunately, thanks in large part to the Internet, you no longer have to go through a bookie, or a casino, to place a bet on a game. Online companies such as Party Casino and others can actually link you to simple betting platforms where you can put money down on a number of different sports situations across a broad range of different sports. Sometimes, you can bet on a game-to-game basis, or even play the odds on a certain team to advance in or even win the playoffs. And, in terms of sports, you will have access to gambling on football, basketball, boxing, horse racing, tennis, and virtually every other popular professional sport. [Read more...]
